The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Jibran Bassil, received in his house in Laqouq the Consul of Lebanon in Peru, Dr. Hamed Abou Zahr, with the director of the “Aamalna” Association in Sidon, Mrs. Fatima Al-Baba and Mr. Abed Jradi.
During the meeting, the general situation on the Lebanese scene was reviewed in light of the escalation in the pace of Israeli attacks on southern villages and towns. The tragic conditions that the Lebanese are experiencing in light of the stifling economic and social crisis, the crisis of the continuing presidential vacuum and the resulting imbalance and irregularity in the work of constitutional institutions were also presented. The delegation briefed MP Bassil on the situation in the city of Sidon and the crises it suffers from, especially the environmental ones, as well as the nature of the work of the “Aamalona” Association, its mission, and the services it provides.

After the meeting, Consul Abou Zahr hoped that the new year would be a year of Lebanon’s salvation from its ordeal, a good omen and safety for getting out of this dark tunnel, and a usher in a better and more beautiful tomorrow. Consul Abou Zahr pointed out the challenges facing Lebanon in light of the Zionist escalation, and in light of the dangers facing it, which requires national awareness of the precision and seriousness of the stage, stressing the necessity of national unity and activating dialogue as a necessary issue to confront the multiple challenges and crises that are plaguing Lebanon, and the entrance to all of this is in Accelerating the election of a president of the republic upon which the Lebanese agree does not pose a challenge to any component, as the continuation of the presidential vacancy has become a danger to Lebanon, its fate and its future. Consul Abou Zahr and the accompanying delegation extended an invitation to Bassil to visit the city of Sidon, and the latter promised to accept it, stressing that Sidon means a lot to him and that it was, still is, and will remain an example of coexistence among the Lebanese.
